AMERICA’S TROPHY-HUNTING HABIT IS A HARD HABIT TO BREAK

AMERICA’S TROPHY-HUNTING HABIT IS A HARD HABIT TO BREAK

Register Your Distaste on the GMFER Petition to Ryan Zinke

“Trophy hunting can only be an effective tool for conservation when the decisions are transparent, and the necessary resources are available to ensure hunting is properly managed”
African Wildlife Foundation

Secretary for the Interior Ryan Zinke announced the establishment of the International Wildlife Conservation Council (IWCC). Close examination of the council does not inspire us at all the council will be focused on the promotion of the hunting industry and not conservation
Zinke has placed sole emphasis on hunting wildlife.

Those who kill for recreation rather than necessity imported 1.26 million trophies into the USA from 2005-2014.

Africa is facing an unprecedented wildlife catastrophe. The numbers of our iconic species are in a sharp downward spiral.

Trophy hunters love to tell us that hunting is a conservation tool yet they are not able to provide any scientific research to back up their statements.

Studies conducted have shown that trophy hunting is having negative impacts on wild populations of both elephant and lion. Similar studies have also shown that their is a close link between trophy hunting and poaching.

Trophy hunting fuels corruption and encourages the unfair redistribution of wealth.

Zimbabwe is facing a major collapse in its elephant numbers.

There is serious valid concerns whether proceeds from elephant hunts in Zimbabwe or Zambia are used for conservation.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service began issuing permits last month for hunters to bring home lion trophies from Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Read our petition site and write to US Secretary Ryan Zinke or to a representative at U.S Fish and Wildlife Service we have included his name and contact details.
